The Coming Week

  • Ellis Beach Opening Regatta will be held on the 20th and 21st of Feb. This event will formal open the 2016 Ellis Beach Season.. Hope to see you there for a great time at the beach – all off the beach , dinghies and multihulls welcomed
  • North Queensland School Team Sailing – The School sailing season has started and the CYC is very excited to be part of the fun.. Join us on the 28th of Feb to watch Teams from across the region test their skills and sail to compete in the state titles.. If you can assist us in running the event please let Scott know ASAP
  • Lil Cortis Memorial Event:  a significant event in the NQ sailing calendar – for more information please contact our good friends at the YKBC
  • YKBC is starting up a Tacker Program – this is great news for the region – congrats to Phil and the team on this exciting initiative.. For more information please contact Phil
  • WAGS:  This Wednesday.  Please see link below for Courses and Sailing Instructions.  Refer to club noticeboard or title link for results and handicaps.
  • SWD Program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.30 pm till 5.30 pm. All welcome.
  • SWD Program Transports options : Cairns Yacht Club has teamed up with ComLink to provide participants of the Sailors With A Disability Program a solution! ComLink has fully accessible transport and excellent drivers that will assist in getting you to and from the program on a weekly basis. For any enquiries please give the friendly team at ComLink a call on 1300 761 011 to discuss your transport needs.
  • Sail Training for 2015 is well underway. To undertake training please register your interest at the CYC office.
  • CYC Modified Tackers program course was planned for last weekend, however due to the “stingers” it has been deferred Please contact the office for more information.

  • Cairns Greatest Signup Daythe CYC was well represented by our club members great work everyone !!!
  • First Aid Course – All current instructor and CYC members are invited to update their first aid certification, A group deal has been negotiated ( min of 6 people ) please let the CYC office know if you interested – Date to be advised
  • Townsville Yacht Club is hosting a series of training programs for club Judges and Race Officers on the 13th and 14th of Feb – Please pass the word !!
  • CYC Social Committee: The committee is keen to establish a social committee, if you keen to help us out on this committee please contact Trish
  • 2016 Calender  is now available online – to sync the CYC calendar to your tablet or other device please follow the information via this link
  • CYC Newsletter editor wanted:   Looking for a person who is interested in compiling the newsletter for the CYC ( about 1 hours a week) – If your interested please contact Scott.
  • Regional FNQ YQ facebook clubs page has been set up to assist FNQ work together and share information. Check it out.
  • VIP Program – as part of a regional clubs initiative John Byrnes from TSC is looking for interested people to get involved in supporting regional events as part a regatta management and support team – this is a great way for those member of the sailing community to remain involved while not necessarily sailing
  •  YQ newsletter hare published monthly  – for all the last YQ news
  • New CYC Pontoon: The Executive would ask those people who use the new CYC pontoon if they would ensure that on the days with dinghy sailing (training and racing ) and SWD are occurring that the pontoon is vacated to allow safe access to the water.

Forthcoming Event

  • NQ School Team Sailing : The CYC is pleased to be hosting a round of the School Team Sailing Regatta on the 28th of Feb at Ellis Beach: Given the success of last years event it will a great opportunity to work with regional clubs from Tinaroo and Mission beach to promote school Sailing – Volunteers welcomed.
  • 2016 Mickey Ink Race Week – SAVE THE DATE. The Port Douglas Yacht Club is proud to announce that the 2016 Mickey Ink Port Douglas Race Week will be held Wednesday April 27th – Monday 2nd May in 2016 – Spread the word. 4 Days of racing over the newly instated Labour Day long weekend
  • SAIL CAIRNS Dates announced 17th – 20th of September 2016 SAVE THE DATES – spread the word
