The Coming Week

  • Lindsay Joice Series: The CYC 2016 Summer series is well underway, but it is not too late to join in. Please ensure that your vessels are ready to hit the water immediately following the race briefing at 12 noon ( dinghies, OFB and Yachts all welcome)
  • 1/2 Yearly General Meeting of members will be held on the 7th of Feb at 10.00am – spread the word
  • CYC Sailing Committee meeting will be held on the 8th of Feb at 5.30pm in the Regatta room – all welcome.
  • Ellis Beach Opening Regatta will be held on the 20th and 21st of Feb. This event will formal open the 2016 Ellis Beach Season.. Hope to see you there for a great time at the beach – all off the beach , dinghies and multihulls welcomed

  • SWD Program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.30 pm till 5.30 pm. All welcome.
  • SWD Program Transports options : Cairns Yacht Club has teamed up with ComLink to provide participants of the Sailors With A Disability Program a solution! ComLink has fully accessible transport and excellent drivers that will assist in getting you to and from the program on a weekly basis.   • Sail Training for 2015 is well underway with our first group graduating from Dinghy 1 / 2 Course last sunday. From all reports there are 5 new sailors looking forward to joining in our clubs activities .. if you wish to undertake training please register your interest at the CYC office.

The Coming Week

  • This will be the final newsletter for 2015, wishing you all a safe and merry Christmas and we hope to see you all at the first CYC event (Lindsay Joice Series) which will be for Yachts and Dinghies commencing on the 9th of Jan 2016 – this means that our regular Saturday morning sailing has changed. Dinghy Training is now available to all with the first set of course commencing in January  and a modified Tackers program occurring in Feb (see below)
  • The CYC Christmas Party will be held on the 19th of Dec at Fitzroy Island – Please consider arranging your accommodation soon. Race will commence at 11am – Please contact Bill for more details.

General Notices

  • CYC Sailors with a Disability Program (SWDP) has launched a raffle to raise funds for securing a larger, more suitable boat for our larger adults. See Aaron Darrel to secure your ten or so books of 20 tickets on Tues or Thurs after 5.30pm at the Boatshed. Fantastic prizes on offer, including book-buyer/seller prize. Drawn at CYC Presentation 12 Dec. Gordo will be away for a few weeks from the 12th of October so please contact Don or Arron (m: 0459581495) for all the lastest updates
  • Boatshed management : Just a reminder that our excellent Treasurer has made up a new cash reconciliation forms – please see Pam for more information. Our the club house needs to be locked each time it is left vacant – please talk to Rod Mitchel for more information on the SOPs.
  • Changes to Dinghy Usage Fee :  As per advice issued in July 2015, and commencing start of season 4 dinghy usage fees will now be $20 / vessel. Nomination fees remain the same.
  • TCYC is hosting a safety and survival at sea course in November follow the link if your keen to attend
  •  YQ newsletter hare published monthly  – for all the last YQ news
  • New CYC Pontoon: The Executive would ask those people who use the new CYC pontoon if they would ensure that on the days with dinghy sailing (training and racing ) and SWD are occurring that the pontoon is vacated to allow safe access to the water.
  • CYC current office hours are Tues 12:30 – 4:30, Wed 9:30 – 5:30, Fri 11 – 2, or by appointment.

  • 2016 Mickey Ink Race Week – SAVE THE DATE. The Port Douglas Yacht Club is proud to announce that the 2016 Mickey Ink Port Douglas Race Week will be held Wednesday April 27th – Monday 2nd May in 2016 – Spread the word. 4 Days of racing over the newly instated Labour Day long weekend
